Cynthia & Xiao is a Hong Kong-based knitwear label that believes in making people feel good about themselves. Launched in 2014, the label is the namesake of Chinese fashion duo Cynthia Mak and Xiao Xiao, who combine their respective backgrounds in fashion design, graphic design and knitwear. Since 2018, Cynthia & Xiao has focused solely on knitwear, using it as a canvas to create vibrant, bold and colourful designs for men, women and children.
Cynthia Mak, a Hong Kong native, experienced a multicultural upbringing with extensive international exposure. Initially exploring art through graphic design, Cynthia later pursued fashion at Central Saint Martins in London. Immersed in a passionate and talented cohort, Cynthia dedicated herself to rigorous study and graduated with honors.
Her graduation design earned recognition from Vogue Italia, labeling Cynthia as a promising emerging designer. After working at renowned fashion brands like Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Preen by Thornton, and Roksanda Ilinčić, Cynthia returned to Hong Kong and, in 2014, co-founded the brand Cynthia & Xiao with her classmate Xiao Xiao.
In 2017, Cynthia was honored by Hong Kong Tatler as an outstanding entrepreneur under 40 in Hong Kong.
